Maintaining a healthy weight by adopting healthy lifestyle behaviours, including a healthy diet, is the best way to prevent type 2 diabetes.”
I find it interesting that a study like this is always used to demonise fat people. Notice especially the last sentence which assumes (as usual) that if you are fat it’s because you don’t “adopt healthy lifestyle behaviours”. Ummm, what is exercising if not a “healthy lifestyle behaviour”? The study could also be interpreted as correlational. That is, the things in a person’s genetics that cause Diabetes 2 could be the same things that lead to a person being overweight DESPITE exercising and “adopting healthy lifestyle behaviours”. Why is this perspective never mentioned in such articles??
